    With SIMATIC S7-PLCSIM Advanced, virtual controllers can be used for simulation of S7-1500 and ET 200SP controllers and for extensive function simulation.

    The virtual controllers can also be tested and validated in conjunction with a plant/machine. An extensive API is available for interfacing plant/machine simulations.

    During the configuration and engineering phase with STEP 7 in the TIA Portal, S7-1500/ET 200SP CPU hardware is no longer required with S7-PLCSIM Advanced in order to carry out an extensive function simulation. S7-PLCSIM Advanced can be used to generate virtual controllers for function validation which can be tested and validated either standalone or in conjunction with a plant/machine.

    Several instances and thus the interaction of multiple PLCs are supported. In addition, structures with distributed instances are also supported (e.g.: PLC 1 and PLC 2 run on PC 1; PLC 3 runs on PC 2 and the plant/machine simulation runs on PC 3). An extensive API is available for interfacing plant/machine simulations to S7-PLCSIM Advanced.
