The CP 1542SP-1 IRC communications processor connects the ET 200SP Distributed Controller with Industrial Ethernet networks. In addition, control centers can be connected using various telecontrol protocols.
The CP is characterized by the following:
- Ethernet-based connection to TeleControl Server Basic, e.g. via Internet
- Ethernet-based connection to the control center via IEC 60870-5-104 or DNP3 protocol
- Data transfer of measured values, control variable values or alarms optimized for telecontrol systems
- Automatic sending of alert e-mails
- Data buffering of up to 100,000 values ensures a secure database, even with temporary connection failures
- Clearly laid out LED signaling for fast and easy diagnostics
- Fast commissioning thanks to easy configuration using STEP 7
The module can also be used for integrating the ET 200SP Distributed Controller into an IPv6-based network. All functions are configured using STEP 7 Professional V14 (TIA Portal) or higher.
The CP 1542SP-1 IRC supports the following communication services:
- Support of multiple telecontrol protocols such as DNP3, IEC 60870-5-104 and TeleControl Basic

- Open communication (Open User Communication)

- Sending e-mails via SMTP or SMTPS with "SMTP-Auth" for authentication on an e-mail server (also with IPv6)

With the CP 1542SP-1 IRC, the ET 200SP Distributed Controller can be used as a Remote Terminal Unit (substation) in telecontrol applications. The CP 1542SP-1 IRC has all the advantages of the ET 200SP design:

The CP 1542SP-1 IRC is mounted on the ET 200SP DIN rail and is connected to the adjacent modules via the backplane bus. - The BusAdapter (not included in scope of delivery) makes various connection methods possible;
- For standard environmental conditions, BA 2xRJ45 for connection via RJ45 connector
- For mechanical loading during operation and/or increased EMC requirements

- Film and roll with 500 strips, for thermal transfer roll printer
- Paper (280 g/m2), DIN A4 sheets with 100 strips each, for laser printer

Completely configurable application through "data point configuration"
The introduction of "data point configuration" in STEP 7 eliminates all programming effort for transferring data to the control center.
The data of the CPU relevant to the control center is selected via user-friendly "item browsing" in STEP 7. In a clearly-arranged menu, the data transfer parameters are then assigned to the data points selected in this way. The cyclic or event-driven transfer of measurements, setpoints or alarms can be implemented in just a few steps and without programming effort.
Data buffering
Data losses are prevented by the data buffering mechanisms integrated in the product.
In the event of a connection failure, up to 100,000 time-stamped values are buffered. When the connection is restored, the buffered values are automatically transferred to the control center in the correct chronological order.
E-mail alerting
E-mail alerts can be configured for prompt notification of service and maintenance personnel about station conditions. When previously defined events (such as threshold violation) occur, application-specific information is sent automatically by e-mail.
Diagnostics
The CP 1542SP-1 IRC offers comprehensive diagnostic options for a quick and informative analysis of the station status. Elementary diagnostic information about the connection to the control center is signaled directly on the CP via LEDs.
Extensive information such as connection history, buffer status and transferred measured values can be called up via STEP 7.
Remote maintenance
For remote access from the control center to the substation, the CP provides a remote maintenance port in parallel with process operation. This ensures access for monitoring and program changes.
Interfaces
The CP 1542SP-1 IRC has 2 Ethernet interfaces for connection to the control center. The ET 200SP Distributed Controller can be connected via an existing network or via other media by using additional routers (e.g. SCALANCE M for connection to the Internet via DSL).
