  The ION PROFIBUS DP SPY T001 is an interface node for recording numerical data which is transferred over PROFIBUS DP between fieldbus nodes:

  • For provision of measured data for further processing in combination with the SIPLUS CMS X‑Tools software (must be ordered separately, see "Analysis Software" → "CMS X‑Tools")
  • Reaction-free connection to PROFIBUS DP
  • For transferring recorded signals to a higher-level industrial PC via IEEE1394a (FireWire) with 400 Mbit/s
  • Mounting on IEC rail

  Hardware and software requirements

  Hardware:

  • PC with Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2 recommended)
    
    • CPU ≥ 2.4 GHz
    • RAM ≥ 512 MB
    • OpenGL-capable graphics card (1024 x 768 pixels and more, 1280 x 1024 pixels or more recommended)
    • IEEE1394, Ethernet and USB interfaces
  • Power supply modules and connecting cables (depending on the SIPLUS CMS4000 components used)

  Software:

  • CMS X‑Tools (Standard or Professional Edition)

  Network topology

  The IEEE1394a standard makes it possible to build extensive networks with up to 63 nodes. The network topology is that of a bus with branches, but without loops.

  The ION PROFIBUS DP SPY T001 can be networked in a tree or linear bus topology.

  With the tree topology, two further bus nodes are connected to each bus node.

  

  Tree topology

  With the linear topology, one further bus node is connected to each bus node.

  

  Linear topology

  A maximum of 63 bus nodes can be connected. The maximum number of hops (point-to-point connections) from one bus node to any other is limited to 15. For this reason, no more than 16 devices may be connected in series.
